Does anyone know whether you can get a space saver kit (spare wheel and jack etc) from any other source than a dealer? Want to replace my RFTs which standard tyres but need to get the kit.

I'm told it costs £160 from the dealers - anyone found the kit at a cheaper price. I'm in the same boat as rgb65 and want the peace of mind that i can swap the wheel where ever, when ever!

I hate run flats!!!

anyone actually used tyre weld???
does it work when your sitting on the M6 at 2am with a puncture?
I'm a bit "old school" and think a spare is best

tyre weld is ok as a get you home...it renders the tyre irrepairable once used though.
(though iirc there is one that doesnt...or was i dreaming?)
a spacesaver from a breakers is the safest course i reckon

so the spare wheel has arrived and looks like this

View attachment 14204

had to cut the little indents that were in the wheel housing out with a stanley knife so the spare will sit down enough that i can put the boot carpet back in

then lay the foam tray upside down into the middle of the wheel try

stick the tyre in

and finally put the brass cap and butterfly wing on to secure it into place

have kept the air compressor that came with the car, but ditched the gunk!!
It cost me £175 at Berry's after i told them another BMW dealer was doing them for £175. Yes it's a lot of money, but i'm happier having this in my boot - now all i need to do is track down some Falken 452's, Goodyear F1's or Kumho KU31's :)
