Afternoon all

I own a E60 525d SE 2005 Auto (177)

Looking for some general advice if I may. My car has completed just under 72k in 4 years. The vast majority of that was whilst it was owned by my friend (58k in 2.5 years). Whilst in his possession it was always serviced by a main BMW dealer and since I have owned it by a non franchised BMW specialist

I have not fully got my head around the way BMW's are serviced. Looking in the service documentation (and service within iDrive) it suggests that a vehicle check is due shortly.

This seems to cover the main items but there is no indication as to whether for instance if timing belts/chains need replacing.

Would appreciate advice from the learned members and whether there are anything in particular I should be looking out for at this mileage/age.

Cheers

Alan

Alan, there is no maintenance required on the timing chain as it will last the life of the car. Possibly change of tensioner for the chain, but your mileage is too early for that. Gearbox oil may need a change at some point, but not critical. Also, they say the fuel filter is lifetime, but you may want to consider changing it. Other than that, regular servicing will provide you with years of pleasure with the odd niggly sensor problem here and there...but that's another story :thumbsup.
