hI guys

my previous account was maikothegreek but i have forgot my password so i am back as Maikos

the issue i have is that when i drive the e60 the idrive shuts down and sometimes does not want to restart. its goes on and off and has a mind of its own. The music will just cut off then i will get a BMW logo in the middle of the screen. I dont know what the problem may be its driving me crackers. i have tried resseting it already

thanks in advance Mike

I would suggest taking it to a BMW dealer and let them have a look. With the iDrive controlling alot of things it might be advisable for them to check it out for errors..... Could be something really simple. Hope ya get it sorted.

check the battery - charge it overnight and then see if the same gremlins appear. If it goes away - get a new battery - iDrive is suspectible to current fluctuations

Hi Maikos, if you remove all the dvd's/cd's is the fault not apparent? Also you can remove the flash connector in the glovebox and see again if the fault does not happen? This will elimate all the drive and other MOST bus control units that could generate the fault.

ok its come back from the garage and the fault code is " A3DB FAULT IN THE DVD PLAYER"

after speaking to sytners its a known common fault and there is a repair kit for it £69 + vat. Now i just need a good auto electrician. I might just let sytners do it
