Nothing like that at all mate, i have the same year and car as you but a 530d.

It went blank on me once and reset itself but that is about it.

Does your problem happen everytime you put the sat nav in? Can you recreate it the problem? Red

 

I Drive problem

Yeah the problem re occured.
BMW did a dianostic report on the car and they reset the system worked fine for two days then crashed again. so had to replace the id rive. got the car back and sat nav would not work. so i took the disc out and everything was fine. working properly.
told dealer of the issue and they took it back. now they are saying the computer needs replacing... so chances are there was actually nothing wrong with the i drive but the as " the computer says no" situation dictated I had to get that replaced. now I am required to spend an additional £1K to get the computer replaced... get a feeling of being taken for a ride....

 

sounds like you should consult trading standards over this one mate, looks like they are taking you for a ride, with a company dedicated to quality, they havewnt done a good job, they promised to fix it in the first place, and it didnt, they are making you pay £1000 for something they pretty much broke themselves.
