I have recently bought a 2004 plate 645ci. I noticed that the rear speakers/ rear parking sensor bleeps were not working.

I took the car into my local BMW dealership and they advised that I needed a new amplifier as water had got into the amp area via a damaged seal on rear passenger light block. Given their projected cost, I thought I would look elsewhere (once I had picked myself off the floor)

Has anyone else had this issue before, any recommendations as to where I can buy a replacement Logic 7 amplifier and once bought is it easy to switch them over?

Any help or guidance would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Richard

This is a long shot, but it worked for me!

The drain hose on mine separated and flooded the amp completely - I too was told I needed a new one. Just for the hell of it (and let's face it, I couldn't screw it up any more), I removed the amp, split the case and painstakingly cleaned round each connector and the stuff on the PCB (transistors etc) - this was all 'furred up' where the water had been cooked. I used a soft toothbrush. I put it back together and it's worked fine ever since - gotta be worth a try vs £600 for new one?

Also if you bought this from a dealer within the last 6 months then they should fix this for free, regardless of whether or not it's a BM specialist / dealer. If it's a private sale then it would be more difficult. Have a look here:

Although if it was a private sale then I'd be inclined to follow Neals advice first, could save you a fair few ££'s

Good luck :thumbsup
