I recently bought a 2004 535d. Loving it.

Just one thing though. The two turbo's are meant to kick in at different rev's correct?. Overall the performance is great but sometimes from a standing start it seems to take sometime to wind up then at it takes off at 4000 revs.

I'm not that clued up on engines and have no previous experience of driving a turbo car. If a turbo diesel has a failed turbo will it be pretty obvious or will it just run like a car with no turbo. Can they go wrong?

How can you tell if there is problems?

Cheers

A failed MAF(Mass Air Flow) meter will give sluggish pull away, a simple test you can do is unplug the MAF plug then drive the car with it unplugged, if the car pulls away alot better then you need a MAF.

You should also check all the vacuum pipes for splits.

Would be a good idea to get the fault codes read as well.

Hope that helps. :)
