Any chance you could post a picture of the CD unit as Im not 100% sure I am thinking of the one you have.

However if its the BMW business CD/radio etc unit then this is a known method for retrieving CDs as they are known to eat them sometimes.

1/Press the CD eject button (igntion on obviously!)
Take a thin flat object like a lollipop stick for example!) and

2/insert it at a 45 degree angle into the CD slot, catch the edge of the CD and tweak it towards you.
It 'should' eject.
It may take a couple of tries as you need to press the eject button precisely just before you tweak the cd. If you dont care about the CD then you could use a small flat blad screwdriver.
Either way, if your car is no longer in warranty then you will need to buy a new unit if you want to use that CD player or I suppose you could jsut use the multichanger if it still works ok....

There is no permanent 'fix' that I am aware to repair the mechanism itself, however I do know of one electronics guru with a shop near me who would be the type to maybe repair it.

You may know someone similiar where you live, say an electronics or car audio specialist. WOuld be worth taking it in to see if they can repair it as BMW would just say 'replace unit' and the cost is a LOT iirc

Edited to add, Im pretty sure yours is the I-drive model.

Another surefire way to remove the CD is to use some longnose pliers to pull the CD while pressing the eject button.

http://www.abbeypowertools.co.uk/knipex-pliers/long-nose-pliers/showitem-5901-55639.aspx

once it starts ejecting (hopefully) dont force it out but let it do the work itself.

//and are you sure you didnt insert 2 CDs in there? as I have heard about a few people doing this and getting the same problem!!
