Hi,

I was driving my car along a dual carriage way today and I was in 5th gear at 50mph. I saw a gap ahead of me so I put my foot down.

The problem was that I looked in my rear view mirror to see a fair amount of black smoke coming from the back of the car for about 5-10 seconds.

Surely this isn't normal?

Oh it's a car I bought last week btw.

it's totally normal for a diesel.

im sure its normal, i was behind a 2007 plate yesterday and he booted it and yep smokin like a good un he was. bmw 5 series that is

check airfilter, oil breather etc
depends how much it smokes? they all smoke
