I the 320ci e46 ment to have a seat belt warning if you dont wear it?
the light comes on when you switch the ignition for its self check then goes off, but doesnt come back on if you take you seat belt off.
is it just like a check for the pre tensioners?

My car does the same, id be interested to hear if its 'meant' to light up if someone is sitting on a seat but not clipped in.

Yes James, it will come back on periodically. My '1' however has a different strategy. The gong drives you mental until you or your passenger puts the belt on...
