I had an oil leak from the vacuum pump last year and replaced it with one from the breakers. As we all know, a new one is in excess of £250.

All went well until couple months ago when I noticed it's seeping again at the seam and this time I was actually prepared to go buy a new one, until I thought to have a look inside the pump.

The lid is held in place by 5 torx screws and once you take it off, it will reveal a worn, flattened rubber seal. I couldn't believe my eyes! Other than that, the mechanism is very simple, it's the kind of part that would never break down so why, oh why, isn't that rubber seal listed as a spare part!

Next step is a trip to halfords for a high temp gasket sealant and I'm looking good again :D I would be very surprised if it's still leaking.

is that all that it is???

i thought for £200 it would be a more complex part,

I had mine changed a month or so ago, wish i had seen this before lol

If mine leaks again i will be doing this my self, although im not expecting it to leak for anouther 6 years
