hi names ian new to this iv had my 7 for 2 years and for the last year iv been havin trouble with the cars gears every time i put it in ever drive or reverse it pops out an ses repeat gear selection if i hold it for about 20 seconds while i drive it stays in gear but as soon as i slow down i get the same thing cums up repeat gear selection can any 1 tell me what i need to do to fix this or even tell me whats goin on i allso have pdc faliure passanger and driver restarint system faliure this cars just not made for people on a budget:jaw-dropping

First thing i would do is get the gearbox fault codes read, then take it from there mate. :frown

bmw told me 150 pound just to look at it and im not loaded so is it posible for smaller mechanics to do this

Yes, you can get the fault codes read at a Indy BMW specialists, have them read the engine and gearbox codes, also the Airbag and PDC codes.

You can also try putting the car into reverse with just the ignition on, then putting your ear to each sensor listen carefully, they should click, the one that doesn't is the knackered one.

rite sorted the gear thing out its the gear sector been doin alot of fidlin an i cum to the conclusion that it is loose and obvously the switch inside is broke phoned bmw they say 90 pound now would this be a easy replacement or would i need special equipment

Have you got the part number for the item that you can post up?
There may be some coding involved which only a main dealer will be able to do
