I rang BMW to ask what they'd charge for an oil change.

£200.48 was the reply. Apparently £100 of that is just for the oil as its "fully synthetic".

Does this sound right for a 2003 545i?

yep it sure is......goto the opie oils website and get the oil service pack will be cheaper, I supplied the oil for my last service on the 525d it was 93 quid from halfrauds for 8 litres.....

phone them and make sure they "will" take the customer's oil and use it in the service. I remember shaft69 telling us that some franchises are getting a bit funny about that....

Personally, I would advise an Independent BMW specialist over a main dealer anyway:thumbsup

I'm going to go Independent, mine's got a Full BMW SH but I just cant justify paying double the service costs to keep it a FBMWSH. Going to give BMERC in north London a go - anyone heard anything negative about them?

Yep, based in Barnet...they are good, though a little bit pricey...but cheaper than dealers :thumbsup

If it's an Independent BMW specialist and I recall correctly then even BMW would still take your car back if you ever wanted to part ex it against a dealer model:thumbsup

Independent BMW specialists still use a BMW stamp in your service book:thumbsup

If only straight oil service really go anywhere which has good rep, but some bmw independents wouldn't trust with 1.1 escort.

You sure you need to use that good a quailty oil in yours mate?

B&Q do 2 stroke oil for just £9.99 for 5 litres.
