Hi all

recently found a small rattle from the flexi pipe.. The local garage said flexi pipe is very expensive but they can weld it to stop the rattle...he said its lose near the cat...

should i spend money and replace it or weld it?

i have noticed its is bad on DIESEL i get around 25mpg had it serviced recently too... Would this be the cause?

320TD compact 2003 Flexi pipe rattling replace or weld?

When my flexi pipe went it was so bad you got headaches in the car from the fumes. BMW did this job for me, pipe was £120 plus fitting of around 45 mins so not too bad.

Far as I understand they can't really be welded. I would say it would have no effect on mpg tho.

All depends on how much its going to cost you to have fixed, if money was no object I'd be getting a decat pipe fitted :D

The rattle could be the cat itself and if its damaged that could affect MPG tho probably not to the extent you have.
Check your engine temp as thermostat could be the real cause of poor mpg :thumbsup

I think the part that is broken is the flexi bit joining the cat...
Ive been told its all one so will have to buy a CAT which costs a fortune...
