Hi can anybody help please????
I have an e39 on an 03 plate and the auto headlight levellers don't seem to be aiming the xenon lights far enough up the road. I noticed this when all of a sudden the light beam seemed to point directly to the floor, but they still seem to be adjusting automatic just no pointing high enough. I have checked the fuse's, wiring and bulb connections and all seems to be fine, just wondering if you could give me any clues as to what this could be...Thanks

Only work i have done is change the air filter and the crankcase breather filter. not been anywhere near lights. cant think what it could be??

The reason I say this is because your level sensors are located underneath your car. No. 12.

Thanks for the diagram where should i look under the car for the level sensor?

Rear axle :thumbsup...see if linkages are not broken.

Just checked front and all seems fine, however i have taken the back one off and there is no resistance at all, it just spins round is this right? The arms had corroded to the ball connections so i think this has worn it out inside. £70 from local dealers if this is the problem:frown

You will be best to get the fault codes read from the light control module if there are no obvious problems, a main dealer or good BMW indy specialist will be able to do this.

I have a similar problem to this one. Are the sensors / adjusters easily seen or does the car have to go up on ramps.
My cars been sitting not being used most of the summer in the rain is it possible the adjusters are just corroded.
