2002 E46 318 - Oil filler cap removal

Hi guys,

I would like to change my profile gasket on my 318, N42 engine. Anyone know how I can remove the oil filler cap. I am struggling to do this and dont want to break it.

I have read impee's diy but cannot quite remove my filler cap in the way he is describing. My filler cap is the same as in the link.

u want to take it oil cap off ?????????? turn and lift

Remove the oil cap by squeezing it on two sides

You don't squeeze...you just twist the cap anticlockwise a 1/4 turn. It may be on a hinge as well.

many thanks. That was fun, lol. spent about 10 minutes and was able to get it off. Looks like its not been off for a while, it was very stiff. Hope the rest of the install goes well.

the squeezing of the 2 sides is when u want to remove the oil cap to replace it completely.
