alrite, ive just reciently baught a 2002 525dsport and hav been having a few problems with the gearbox. At first it would change gears and pick up speed fine but when i accelarated hard it wouldnt change gear, it would just hit the rev limiter and would only change gear if i let off the accelarator. Then when a day or two had gone by and i booked it back in2 the place i baught it from the car, when heated up wouldnt pick up speed, but the revs were going up like the cluches were slipping. Its now back at the garrage geting looked at under warrinty but i would like to know wot it could be before the garage try and spin me sum line...

The first thing I would do is read the engine and transmission fault codes with a BMW specific scanner, if there is a problem with the autobox then take the car to a autobox specialist as the dealers will try bill you for a new box at ££££££££££

Let us know the outcome bigrodgebmw :thumbsup

similar problem with mine, spoke to an auto guy and he said this type of box suffers from pump failure, mine is going in next week to be pressure tested, if its the pump £600, if its recon box £1200, thats after I paid £1000 for it then found out head was cracked, cost me £1200 and now the gearbox, all on a FSH 98 528i done 100K. ! Hope this is the end or my woes for a while, I want some use out of it before it goes wrong again

get them to get it over to an autobox specialist - and while they are at it get them to get the box serviced - that will get it either sorted or the problem will reveal itself pretty darn quick - glad you got warranty as by the sounds of it this is going to cost.....
