hi guys

please can anyone advise on how to remove my EGR valve to check and clean it, i have a 330d 2001 plate E46, are there any sites with pictures of removal for this car type. if its chocked up whats the best way of cleaning the unit, my cars done 71k any advice is greatly appreciated

It's held on by 4 bolts, shown as number 16 in link above.

You will need to remove pipe number 6 from the EGR valve http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=AL92&mospid=47642&btnr=11_2334&hg=11&fg=40

And remove pipe number 7 here by undoing #8 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=AL92&mospid=47642&btnr=11_2338&hg=11&fg=50.

Or pipe number 1 if you have that set up http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=AL92&mospid=47642&btnr=11_2740&hg=11&fg=50

Carb cleaner and a tooth brush is very effective, you may need to use a blunt screwdriver for any stubborn bits
