Hi

i have a 330ci auto, this maybe a stupid question. I havea semi auto, and was wondering if i put the gear to SD does that mean sport auto? i have had the car for only 2 months and only just wondered about this!:confusedbecause normally i tho if i swing the selector to the left it means manual made.

Going into sport mode will drop a gear and make the torque coverter spin at higher revolutions for faster acceleration. Then you can shift up and down for manual mode when the gear selector is still in the left position.

so can i just leave it in the SD position all time? and if i want to change gear just knock the gears up and down..

My girlfriend normally drive it, and leaves it in D position.

You can leave it in sport mode, but it won't do your mpg any good.

so basically they have 3 options D mode S mode and Manual?

Yes...D will use all gears, S will only use 4 and manual is as it says. Remember that in manual mode, if the engine labours for any reason, the CPU will take over and make the changes to prevent damaging the gearbox.
