Every now and again, first thing in the morning when the car is cold the accelerator pedal seems to be jammed and i have to press down very hard to free it. After this it will be fine, sometimes for a week or two before it happens again. it never does it when the engine is warm.

I know that accelerator cables are a known week point but before i have it changed , i wondered if there is any other known problem which could cause this as the accelerator operation is usually very smooth and is not acting as though it is binding or warn.

Other than the cable which is a known issue an quite cheap. The throttle body becoming clogged up and restricting the butterfly movement can cause it to stick initially.
