Hi All, after much research i am seeking evryone's opinion on this. .

the issues is how to improve the sounds system without losing the sat nav head unit. .

I see many ppl in this forum have cars with comp fited sat nav and we all know the sounds are not so great. . What have you guys done to improve the sounds without losing the head unit?

As for me, I am planning to add a sub + amp and cut the ski hatch so the bass would travel inside the car. .

Opinion / advice / experience - pls share. .

Investigate either the Sony Sound-On-Top amp (no longer made) or Blaupunkt THA pnp series. Both are designed to be plug and play to the back of an existing factory radio With Nav the 'radio' part is in the boot which makes them very easy to install.

Then, as Ronnie says, replace the speakers, you'll need either special speakers designed for the E46 with three mounting points (Rainbow IQ line) or mounting rings for either 5 1/2" or 6 1/4" drive units.
