I changed the PCV on the rear of the manifold today which thankfully seems to have cured the white smoke on start up but has also made the misfire and lumpy idle worse.

I've checked the hoses best I can and cant find any split's or leaks.

Is there something I could have missed?

Bit of an update.

The car was difficult to start this morning and once started was blowing a bit of smoke for about 2 miles and then on a motorway slip road created the biggest smoke cloud I have seen come out of a car that wasnt completley shot or had diesel put in by accident.

I dont think the bloke in the mondeo behind me was too impressed.

After that the car has been fine so I can only assume that the new valve had managed to get stuck and now it is suitably lubricated has started operating ok.

Lets us know if anything changes 540i Mick, :thumbsup

It may have even needed time for the fuel mixture adaptations to re-adjust. :)
