Hi all, brand new to this forum and looking forward to getting involved. I have just bought a 530d sport tourer and ive noticed there seems to be a demon in the temp guage. It rises to centre as normal then all of a sudden it rises into the red over a few seconds and stays there, then drops straight back to center and stays there. i think this could be an electrical problem as it rises and falls in about 5 seconds max. No warning lights come on when it rises and ive been told it could be a binicle fault. any ideas.

The best way to solve the problem would be to have the fault codes read and also view the live data, you are not the only person to report this problem this week as we also had another member with the same issues :frown

I have just read the preivous post and ive just tried the pinicle test.

I did as it said, but when it came up test nothing happened, it just displayed some numbers, so could that be the problem or am i missing something.

Cheers Lee

How long did you wait for? it should go through some tests as indicated on the cluster, then the gauges should shoot round and back to rest again.

Try again to be sure.

Do a binnacle test, Hold down the mileage reset button with the ignition off, turn the ignition key to position 1, Wait for TEST to appear and then release reset button, watch as the binnacle does a self test.
