Hi guys,

What are the signs for turbo failure, is there any lubricants etc you can put on the turbo or something, your thoughts? I havent had to replace mine touch wood at 78k.

Ian S - could you just expand on the "smoke" bit please as both my 525d and 530d smoke under hard acceleration but go very well so no lack of boost....thanks

White smoke or blue oil smoke. Also very heavy oil consumption.
My mates nissan went through 3 litres of oil in 3 days!

A bang, followed by clouds of smoke, no power and lots of oil gone..... also possibly oil coming from the exhaust........

None of that applies to me thank god, but when the engine is on at idle i do here a ticking noise from the engine any idea?

Could be noisy tappets, noisy injector, worn pulleys, V belt breaking up? :confused
