Hi guys,

What oil shall i go for, i want quality oil no halfords stuff, but like when i get the oil service done, is it better to do myself and do other bits that arent done in the oil service?

Its entirely up to you if you service it your self.

I do, alot easier.

You can do the oil, air filter, Egr and Oil Breather your self.

Ive always used castrol edge 0-30 turbo diesel in my 530d.

Changing the fuel filter on the diesels is also a good move

Go with the recommended stuff - Castrol Edge as mentioned above, last time I brought some it cost me 96 quid at Halfrauds - just had my 530d serviced (Insp 1) and my indie only charged me 56 quid for the oil which he said he could do at that price as he buys so much of the stuff. My indie also said that as long as the you get the right spec oil for the car you should not have any issues.

dont think so!
they dont clean it. Will cost to replace it.

Good oil good sense

The only thing that prevents you engine wearing out is the oil.
Good oil and a filter costs less than a tank of Diesel
It's a no brainer....
Castrol edge 0w-30 Diesel
no it's not the same as Castrol edge 0w-30
I know because I asked Castrol.
You probably need 7-8 litres so shop around the internet, prices vary wildly
I paid £54 for 8 litres incl p+p in December but I'm not saying you would do that well today.
I tend to check on consumables like Oil and buy ahead when I see a Deal.
You can Get a Discount at Opie for being a member of this site, but I still advise to check the internet.
