When excelerating first seems ok then in the rest of the gears when you get to just over 2000rpm the turbo kicks in then almost as soon as you get a burst of power it sort of disapears and continues to excelerate slowly.

First port of call would be to have the diagnostic codes read at a good BMW specialist or main dealer, have you had any fault lights up on the dash?

Also is it a 136bhp M47 engine or 150bhp M47N engine?

No Lights

Im not sure which engine it is.

I haven't had any Warning lights come on it.

What is the engine code? it is displayed on the VIN plate, left hand side. either will be 204D1(m47) or 204D4(m47n)

Not sure of the exact setup you have. But may be worth checking/testing;

- control boost valve
- recirculating diaphram
- general splits and wear on pressure hoses for the turbo
