Hey guys I just bought my 2000 model E39 a couple months back but my 2 yr old daughter has discovered that she can now open the rear door from her car seat as I have looked around the sides of the rear door and can't see anything that resembles a normal child lock mechanism.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, cheers guys :thumbsup

Hi John, if it's the same as th e38 it's a round 'button' below the door latch in rear door with a slot in it, you just turn it with your key or whatever to engage the child lock :)

Thanks I've had a look for something like that as all my previous cars have either had a similar set up where you turn with the key either that or a little plastic switch.

I have another look in the morning just in case I've over looked it.

Thanks I found it today it was a round red switch actually in behind the latch mechanism that's why I never spotted it before. :thumbsup
