Hi all , i have a problem with the passenger seat air bag sensor the one between the fabric and the foam seat base , every time someone sits in that chair the airbag light comes on if i give the base a tap after they get out it goes off again ,i need to know if i have to srip the seat to fix this ? or can i by pass this part or will it off set the rest of my air bag sensors ? many thanks jay.

It sounds like the seat occupancy sensor or wiring connection to the seat pad may be at fault. Best way to confirm is to have the codes read on your car.

dealer told me its the seat pad sensor approx £200 to remove from seat plus parts does this sound about right ? and is this the only way to fix ? many thanks jay

Due to your car having dual stage airbags the sensor actually "measures" your weight and determines the force/quickness the airbag is deployed, common for them to go as mentioned already :frown

Get a indy to replace, while the light is on the airbags won't work in a crash
