Hi just wondering if anyone has heard off this before. My cousin called me and said the cog on the dash was on the clocks and it was downshifting harshly. I told him to get it checked on the computer, its came back as having faulty Clocks and he needs a replacement set. Just wanted to know had anyone heard of this before? Also he was told about the light that would come on the dash due to the miles being different can this be reprogrammed?

Cheers

Sounds like the cog symbol on an auto?? If he has a cog symbol where he normally has D for drive N for neutral etc then the auto box has a fault. He needs to get the codes read, there is a diagnostic port on the box itself.

Yes sorry its an auto box and was checked by a guy who works in BMW, came back as being faulty clocks. I thought this was abit strange but don't know much about auto BM boxes...

If it's the instrument cluster, then you have a CAN bus problem linked to it because that system interfaces the transmission control unit.

Update on this one, got the clocks in still have the same problem.

The guy who diagnosed the clocks is saying it could be a problem with the CAN Line, 4 things to check clocks, dme,abs and transmission and they need to be disconnected one at a time.

I've told my cousin to see if he can bring it to an auto gearbox specialist.
