Ok so where do i start.

I bought this car about a month ago. Picked it up drove 100 miles and it went into limp mode. I think this problem was their when I sold it but because I didnt nail the car on a test drive I didnt realise it was down on power.

took the car back was sent to APM who are supposed to be a bmw specialist who said there was nothing wrong with the car  clearly didnt even drive it pure time wasters. I could pass for more of a specialist than them.

got the car back saying an injector had been replaced but not coded to the car and it is working fine now. it wasnt so back to the garage who put it in with a bosch specialist. who has the car 9 days and checked loads. vaccum pumps injectors ect. then I get a call saying car is FIXED! pick the car up and low down power is gone but over 1800 its fine. check the car on the weekend and I find the pipe from the pc to the actuator disconnected! no wonder the power was back it wasnt being controller by the vaccum system!

Spoke to them thismorning and they told me it was connected when it left  course it was! anyways

The car can get full power. what I have to do is put my foot on the pedal maybe lift off slightly and wait for the engine note to change and its almost I can feel the vaccum there and it will train all the way to redline. when its not on vaccum I can hear like a sucking sound and the turbo sounds different. but if I just jam on the pedal its gutless when the turbo kicks in I can hear the turbo spinning but just doesnt seem to be getting enough boost to go anywhere fast like its hitting a brick wall. Now in the higher gears the power drop is less apprarent but still there. it still accelorates but nothing how it should. If I push it too hard it will go into limp mode sometimes but not always.

If I disconnect a vaccum pipe there is loads of power above 2000 revs especially when you hit 3000 it just goes nuts. and if I stay in the power band above 2000 it feels like the car should but no drop off of torque above 3750.

Now I know its not fueling as all 6 injectors were removed and checked the hp fuel pump has been removed and checked and it doesnt have symtoms of lp pump and the tank pump seems fine and they are all getting the correct pressures. this was done by a bosch approved specialist.

All vaccum pipes have been changed.
Map sensor replaced.
pressure converter are working I even bought a new one and tested it and still the same problem.
EGR is working as it should and holding vaccum
Doesnt make a difference if I pull the maf sensor plug off. tbh its a bit worse.
oil breather has been checked. needs replacing but isnt bad. (part picked up today)

This is a video of my actuator

seems very sharp and jerky. checked it again today and the movement was not smooth.

this is a video of a 320d actuator

... ata_player

seems alot smoother than mine.

My first guess is somewhere there is a problem with the vaccum system but I just cant see where as pretty much everything has been replaced and checked.

My second guess would be a sticking actuator arm from looking at the videos. I can move it by hand but not much but I think thats because I cant get enough leverage.

My third guess would be the turbo vanes are clogged and are sticking so when they unstick im getting turbo boost but when they stick because of the vacuum im not getting proper boost.

Next thing seems to be removal of turbo for refurbishment?

Also can anyone explain to me why I get full power above 2000 revs when I disconnect any of the vaccum pipes. I know the actuator arm doesnt move when this happens. As the garage are telling me it shouldnt run like this and I wanna tell them thats bull as mine bloody runs!

as you can see I've had quite a saga and I just want my car bloody working.

Not got much to add, but don't run in with the turbo actuator disconnected. You've no idea what boost pressure you getting, could lead to over loading or bursting the manifold/intercooler ect.

Just try running it with the small vacuum pipe to the egr valve disconnected (and blocked)
