2000 320d inspection/oil reset mileage

I've just bought my first BMW, a 2000 320d touring. Last week I had the car serviced with an inspection 2 service as I wanted to start off right. When I took the car in the service indicator showed 12,500 inspection on the dash. Following the service it showed the same. the garage said they did reset the indicator, if they did should it not reset to 'oil' and have a higher mileage showing?

As it's my first Beemer I have nothing to compare it to.

Yes the mileage should have risen to approx 20k, mine resets to 18,800, I'd seriously consider an interim oil service around the 8k
mark though to help keep the engine and turbo in top condition.
