Hi have a bmw e39 '98-99' 523i, just today the heating inside packed up! (brrrr)

Car is not overheating (although i have not been in stationary traffic for a long period) and the heat gauge raise gently to mid way, stays there whilst travelling.

So car enginer is heating up, but not excessive, just not transferring the heat inside:confused

No alarms on the dash.

Any ideas?? Cheers Bash

Okay, the heater system is fairly simple. Can you answer the following?
Does the heater control panel work normally?
Can you hear the fan running?
Have there been any odd noises comming from the blower fan in the dash recently?

Hey Colin,

the control panel seems to be fully operational, have checked all the functions, and the air certainly blows as hard as it always has

fans def working, and no strange noises

look forward to hearing from you later

ok, embarrassed to find out that the coolants was half empty, enough to keep the engine cool, not enough to heat inside, filled up on a 50/50 mix, 3 ltrs, sort of auto bled itself, started, hey presto heating.

Bigger problem, gotta get a new radiator, found a crack in it :-(

so gotta do the dash home, avoid the traffic, and work something out
