I was talking to a lad about getting more bhp out of my e36 3.2 evo engine today and he reckons that although the superchips dont do much on their own if i chip mine and put bigger injectors from 4.0 then re-map to suit id probably benefit from between 50-80 horses more?

Would this work? :confused

The standard injectors are good for alot more than standard so you wouldn't gain anything by putting even larger ones on.

Your only gonna get around 10bhp from a chip then maybe another 7-8 from a good exhaust system and a Dave F kit.

M3 isn't easy to add power on, and I think your mates telling you a load of lies. Whole forum would be running this setup otherwise :thumbsup

I might be wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me If I am..

Thanks for the heads up, to be honest when he was talking to me about it i said that its the m3 and he got abit confused, out of all the people iv spoke to they all say the same about it being hard to improove on what bmw have done with it already without going turbo/charged, i just want that little bit more for now as the turbo fund is still not full :(

your mate is a funny dude!!!! bigger injectors and remap = 50 to 80bhp haha

you sure this wasn't down the pub after a he'd had a few shots of absinthe!!!

good exhaust system like supersprint, hamman, eisenmann, Milltek - £400 - £700

Good intakes like dave.f (£100-£170), Simota(£150-£250) or genuine gruppe m (very hard to find but new about £800-£900

Carbon intake manifold like the CSL (then you dont need an induction kit) £1000-£2500 depending on quality and a live map to make it all work properly £5-600, this will net you the most, around 30bhp with good exhaust but its more about the noise and lightening fast throttle response.

Remap from reputable company like Evolve where the vanos profiles amongst other things are mapped £300-£400

Just the three (induction kit, exhaust and remap) depending on strength and state of your engine will net you a total of 15-25, maybe 30BHP if you are very lucky. The most will come from the remap, then induction and then exhaust last. The standard exhaust is very good by design and a lot of AM exhausts actually lose you power . Only bad thing about standard exhaust is its weight.

Its very, very hard to get a lot of power out of the ///M engines without spending silly money and even then its very small gains compared to meny spent. For example Cams, these will cost a couple of grand including fitting and then require a live remap to make them work properly, resulting in a 10-15bhp increase!!

Getting 40-70BHP from a turbo car will cost about £200-£400!!!! Not bloody fair I say

If you're just after a little extra power for now then I can offer you a remap that will get you around 15-18bhp and 25-30Nm more torque. Obviously the throttle respnse will be better also.

Spending that kind of money for an extra 30bhp doesnt make me jump for joy at all, but i half knew that there wasnt a fat lot else i could do to this engine as bmw have already done such a job!

All them figures just say to me is a waste of money when i could be getting stand alone ecu, manifold made, pistons, rods etc ready for the turbo to go on, although re-map sounds inviting for now even if it gets it back running the same power it was when it came out the showroom!

Guys, i would highly recommend Evolve if you want to go the remap route. I;ve had 4 M3's now, 2X 3.0L and on my 2nd Evo saloon and had them as well as other cars mapped by other tuners but this remap that evolve do is head and shoulders above the others. I've done a review in this section. They are sponsors on the M3cutters forum and a lot on the forum have their remaps so you can read reviews and feedback there. Absolutely awesome all round, not just top end. Torque has increased throughout as well as BHP and even littel inputs of throttle can be felt.
