hi guys,

I am in need of a new crankshaft sensor, i have read the i should only purchase the sensor from BMW garage and NOT anywhere else. is the correct and if so why is this considering you can pick up the park for about £30 cheaper from else where.

That is totally correct. The ECU won't accept the new one and it won't run properly and give you fault codes.

Generally because when people have obtained nasty cheap Ebay jobbies they have still had problems afterwards, or worse the car then won't start at all, :rofl

Try either getting a genuine item or a OEM spec sensor from a motor factors.
