Hi, i have just bought a 98 528i, i got it cheap because it has a problem with the abs, the abs light, and the traction control light is on, and the gear box is in limp mode(stays in 3rdgear),also the speedometer and fuel reader gauge ae both not working, also the mile counter doesnt go up, i have unpluged the abs module (i think) and the gearbox is now fine but the lights stay on, does anyne know what this problem is?

Get the codes read for the ABS,DME(engine ECU) and transmission, most likely the N/S/R wheel speed sensor(ABS sensor) I would say

thanks for that, i was hoping it was just a sensor and not the module itself,

runs fine with the module unpluged but the abs and traction control dont work as i found out on a roundabout this morning :lol

Hi jammin. Just joined & read your post. had same prob last year, changed abs module on a service exchange for £200. Problem solved::thumbsup
