Sorry for dumb question ,but I need to use a power pack to start my car as I was listening to radio whilst cleaning car for about 3.5 hrs on first turn of key.
This suprised me to have flattened battery.
To start do I connect red to red an black to black or red to red and black from starter to an earth source on car if so where would you suggest,is the metal strap across the batt a good earth source as it seems to bolt onto inside of rear wing?
Any help much appreciated

In the engine bay there should be a positive point under a black cap with a red + on it. Should be easy to find.

Ground it somewhere sensible.

On my 523i 1996 model the batt plus in the middle of the cam cover and they provide an earthing point on the offside suspension mount.

Don't forget the interior lights are probably on as well.

starting problem sorted

Have now learned where jump lead points are at the front of car.
