Hello,

Thought Id introduce myself with a tale of woe. If you've been watching the news you might have seen the recent floods up here in Northumberland. Went through what I thought was a fairly shallow bit of water in my e39 528i and filled the cylinders with water. Must have bent a rod if not more since the engine locked instantly.

Was surprised since it really didn't look that deep at all - I reckon about 4 - 6 inches and we crawled through it too - with nothing coming the other way.

Am part way through doing an engine swap from a low mileage e36 328i so the moral of the tale is - e39 people, stay at home if its raining!

Few pics of before (when it had an engine) and ones taken today!

Geoff

Owned the e38 for the last 2 years or so. Great machine and was running perfectly with 180k on the clock until "the puddle"!
