Hi i phoned my local mechanic a family owned buisness Vw and Audi specialist but they do a cracking job on any car... and i was booking my car in for a service and said to him to adjust the handbrake and he said that on these are self adjusting and it sounds like the back DRUMS have seized up They are not disc on this car He says to bring the car up for further investigtion is that true... I thought he would just be a simple job....

These are just standard rear drum brakes, You can adjust the shoe at the wheel when fitting them after that the self adjuster kicks in and also adjust the cable at handbrake lever in the car. shouldn't need any specialist time spent on them unless there nackered

The adjuster might be seized but you might find that it has reached its limit and you need new shoes one of the brake gurus will clarify or shot me down:hihi

Brake shoes don't last forever:rofl

Brake shoes only changed 4k with last owner

just had mine done, had new discs and pads and inner shoes for the handbrake, thing is tho my once trusted mechanic has made it worse than it has ever been, should of kept my old parts on!!
you can adjust the handbrake through one of the wheel bolt holes, download a bentley manual and see in there,
