Hi got a problem with a 97 528, the gearbox changes up and down ok between 1st and 3rd but wont change to 4th and 5th unless you knock over to manual, then it works fine in manual. Anyone else heard of this problem, im assuming its an ecu fault, Id appreciate your thoughts

yes sorry it is steptronic. any ideas?

Andy, the gear box has it's own diagnostic plug connector, so I think you will need to get the codes read from it.
