Went to go out earlier and the o/s/f suspension collapsed.

As i started to reverse i heard a loud bang and the spring had snapped.

Is this a common fault or was i just unlucky?

BMW springs and all other springs will break at some point if not replaced:thumbsup

They are probably the original springs, time to decide on how much of the suspension you are going to replace:hihi

You will notice a huge difference in ride comfort by replacing all springs and shocks including top mounts:thumbsup

However, the least you need to replace is both front springs. Please do not just replace the snapped one only like I have known to occur in the past. It will give you no end of bother:frown

Yeh i've got two on order to be fitted tomorrow.

Got the springs from Europarts and a local garage is gonna fit them.

Whilst they're under the car ask them if they can take a look at the condition of all the suspension bushes too:thumbsup

I think next month i'll get them to replace the rears.

It turns out that this is a common problem with the 5 series once they get to about 10 yrs old.

It's only the front ones i've been told. ( that was by the AA man)
