had an accident before the new year and since car was fixed and returned the outside temp display has said its -37, was wondering were sensor is and if its that thats causing problem?

the air duct that holds the sensor was missing. got a replacement from local breakers but still showing wrong reading, -26 now lol any ideas ????

Hmm, I think if it's still reading out by miles, then it's most likely the sensor itself has gone, which as you'll have read in the article, is common thing for e36's. Have a look for a 2nd hand one from a breaker's or Ebay. Did u get a replacement sensor or air duct?

A new one from BMW is like about 100 quid!! Also, make sure the contacts in the plug are clean too, that could affect the sensor too.

car now fixed went a drive and it fixed itself many thanks!!

It does take awhile for the temp to read the right temp when its like that
