under drivers side at the front there is a rattle noise when i press accelerater like something inside pipe loose it sounds like the car has been decat:confused

Check the gearbox to front pipe exhaust bracket. These can rust through and rattle.

Also check all the exhaust heat shields around the cat....:thumbsup

I also have a 318is, if the noise is around idle speed or just above check this exhaust heat shield, mine is vibrating because it is completely worn. I don't want to buy a cat for that so do you think it's possible to just remove the shield and drive like that?

problem solved it was a loose nut on the small pipe that goes into the exhaust pipe . was working its way loose so they tightened it up and hey presto. it was so loud
