hi all, i have just got my hands on a nice honest 318is 16v. i am a mechanic myself and surrounded by mechanical freinds family ect and have been in the trade for years but usually jap so bmw bit new to me. anyway i have this really good looking mtech e36 318 but so underpower and thirtsy i have decided to take the 325i lump out of my trampdrift e36 1996. what is needed for the conversion please, i have both cars sat here complete in full working order. advica and tips much appreciated. thankyou in advance.:thumbsup

i would like to know more aswell the info out there is so mis leading
been seeing costs of 2-3000 and some people saying max 500 so any info would be great

1996 will be a 323i which is a 2.5. But...

You'll need the 2.5 engine complete with exhaust, loom and ECU, EWS box behind the glovebox and the ignition key. The 318iS gearbox is the same as the 323i/325i. You'll also need the 323i/325i radiator, front anti roll bar and because the PAS pipes are different, you might as well just swap the racks over. Also, swap the EWS coding chip from the 323i key to the 318iS key.
