[DJ Wax On]

Hi

I have the following key fob set and the standard alarm system, the car is a 1996 318tds compact:

I generally just lock it without actually setting the alarm. My fob will unlock the car on the 2nd click. But it doesn't lock the car, i have to do that manually.

Does anyone know if this is the way it should behave? and if not, is it an expensive job to get it reprogrammed?

You need to inspect the wires that pass from the vehicle into the tailgate:thumbsup

The wires become broken causing all sorts of electrical problems especially within the central locking system:frown

do you know whereabouts in the car the wires run, or do you know of anywhere that i can read up on this?

IIRC the alarm control unit is behind the glovebox. you should be able to trace them from there :thumbsup

Sorry didnt read it correctly. :embarrassed
The wiring runs into the lower edge of the boot on the left hand side. IIRC it clips to the boot hinge too. :thumbsup

Lift the boot lid and it will be on the left hand side, you cant miss it
