Hi, this is my first post on here, and will not be my last!
Here is my first issue...

My Airbag light is on, on the dash.
When I bought the car 3 weeks ago, the seller said it is a loose connection under the seat, and that the light had only just come on when he slid the seat back to drive it to me!
I think that the "only just happened" bit of the sellers story is a load of bull. But what could it be that is causing the light to be on?
And is there any truth in it being a loose connection under the seat?

I understand that the light indicates a fault, and that in the event of an accident the air bags may not fire.

Any help would be appreciated.

You mean your Airbag light then and not ABS as said, it could well be a poor connection under the seat or even a occupancy recognition sensor, you will need to get the fault codes read at a good BMW specialists or main dealer

Yes, sorry Airbag dash light.
Occupancy sensor.. Hmm? It could be, I might have a look under the seat.
I assume that the fault codes are something that would be picked up by plugging into the diagnostic port in the engine bay then?
Can only the main dealers do that?

Theres lots of people out there that can carry this out for you but from my personal experience your best off getting it done by someone the proper bmw equipment. Ive had mine read by others in the past and its not brought up any faults where as bmw did it straight away.
Might be a little more costly short term but it saves you having it done twice like i did.
