What's the best way to test my alarm is working?

I've tried bashing into the car, rocking it and all sorts, although maybe not strenuously enough as I don't want to damage anything.

Also, should I hear a bleep when locking my car via the key?

Cheers

Hi mate.

Try sitting in the back in the middle of the car. Then with your key lock the car as if you were out side. After about 30 seconds move about a bit. I'm sure there is a technical way but let me know how you go.
Cheers

You will be best to get the fault codes read for the alarm system, there should be a fault stored on the system, any Main dealer(more expensive) or BMW Independent specialist should be able to do this for you, get a copy of the codes and then post them up here and we will help out where we can with what you need to do next.

It would be worth checking the bonnet switch yourself would be my only other recommendation.

Does your alarm work off the key buttons or do you have a separate key fob?

Hi,

Leave one of your windows open and lock the car via key fob. After 40 sec or so if your sensor hasnt already triggered by the wind open the door through the inside, it should go off.

It depends on the code setting on your key fob.
