Hi guys,

The ABS on my car has stopped working, and the ABS light has come on the dash. Is there an easy way (through the computer display) to get a fault code or any idea which component has failed?

I'm told it's likely just a wheel sensor, if so, how much is a BMW garage likely to rinse me to get it fixed?

What are the chances that it's any more serious (like the main ABS unit) and how much is that likely to cost? :confused

Thanks guys, I tried searching for old threads. "abs" and "e36" are apparently too short or too common for the search thingy...

That post doesn't really answer any of my questions though, the guy was mainly having a problem with his dash lights and TCS.

Any pointers for me?

Get the codes read at an independant garage.

Cost me £30 plus vat, been quoted £60 to fit both front sensors (not inc parts)

Sensors are around £25 plus VAT from euro car parts / GSF

BMW will be much more expensive for the same service

I would really opt for originals Tom...better service life :thumbsup
I tend to agree, especially when it comes to most sensors/electrical components.

How much more expensive is a BMW garage (and parts) likely to be? I've got a FBMWSH for my car so far, I'd like to keep it that way if possible...
