Hi there,

I bought some e36 m3 wing mirrors that appear to come off a coupe, they dont fit on my compact i have seen back plates on ebay are these any good to use to adapt the wing mirrors to my car?

no in short...
the reason baseplates are made is so that the company only has to produce once set of moulds for the mirror thus reducing costs in production.
They produce the base plates specific to each vehicle so the mirror can be used with the according baseplate, this is not a baseplate designed to fit oem mirrors.
The oem mirror base will be as big as the aftermaret baseplate but of different dimensions.
