ok im putting an auto box into my prroject car, 328i into a 318is, will a diff from a 328i manual car be ok to put into a 328i auto car????is there any difference? just need to make sure..!
It will be Ok but not ideal as the auto diff is a higher ratio of 3:07 where the manual diff is 2:93 ratio. so with an auto box and the manual diff you will have less acceleration but a higher top speed....:thumbsup
what would you do steve? wait and get an auto one? and also when i buy an auto box for the engine, what i got to look out for?or can just get any one? will it all match up,the torqe holes? sorry for all the q's
I personally would wait for an auto one or try and get a 325 diff which is a 3:15 ratio which would give better acceleration, but slower top speed..:hihi
I would try and find the correct 328i auto box and 328i gearbox ecu so then it will all match and bolt up together, may save a lot of hassle later on...:thumbsup
I don't know about boxes, but diffs are definitely inter-changeable. I've just replaced the OEM 2.93 one with a 3.15 on 323i. If it helps.
