after changing the steering wheel at the weekend im having problems with this car the steering has gone dead stiff and you can hear it grinding it sounds like a spring opening and shuting

so i have takiern the new wheel off today and found nothing so i put the old one back on with out the slip ring or anything and it still does it

can someone point me in the right direction to what it could be please

So initially there was (or still is) an ignition barrel problem, then you changed the wheel - Is that correct?

Did you fit the same type of wheel or one off a later car?
Did you get the ignition barrel out?
