i had my car looked at today by a BMW specialist, its been down on power and the cruise control stopped working at the same time, the guy put it on the diagnostics machine and said its the electronic throttle valve, part number 0132 010 453 does anyone know if anything can be done with mine? e.g a good clean with WD40 or air intake cleaner?

that part number that i quoted above is the number on the side of it, i will take a pic of it tomorrow and try and post it, my cruise control stopped working at the same time and he said the cruise control works off this part too if that helps.

If you look closely, there is a connector on the top where the wiring loom goes. That part no. 0132 010 453 is the Bosch number. The BMW part no. is 13631708605 and costs £120. I don't think any cleaning will cure the fault it has unfortunately :frown

You are not going to like what I say hotrod, but THIS is your part. The Bosch number refers to the whole throttle body. You can dismantle and try to clean the whole throttle housing, but if it still continues to show the symptoms, then I'm afraid you will have to shell out about £500 for a new one or see if you can get one at a breakers or something. Not sure if you can get dismantled parts for it. Sorry mate :frown.

It just so happens i did sort it mate!!! if you pm me your address i will send you the info on how to recondition it, thats what i did to mine and its spot on now, but as in your other thread if your head gasket has gone then that would have something to do with power loss. :thumbsup
